What we like

Classical British architecture superbly defined by the numerous structures in the building, complemented by a beautifully maintained garden which would take you back to India circa 1850.

Highlights
  • Exemplary colonial architecture
  • Beautiful and equally serene garden that's a treat to the senses

About

Vidhan Soudha's claim to fame is being the largest Secretariat in India which also houses the State Legislature. The structure is a charming combination of the neo-Dravidian, British, Indo-Islamic as well as contemporary architectural styles, which, is a symbol of secularism that defines India. The building was constructed by master craftsmen under the supervision of the then Chief Engineer, late B.R. Manickam of the Public Works Department. Just grab a sandwich or a piping hot masala chai with your favourite book . This place also plays the role of a serene getaway for people needing a break from their mundane routines.
