About the Show: An evening of contemporary independent folk and rock music, both acoustic and electric, performed in Kannada, Hindi and English.
The show will feature two sets; by Peepal Tree and Vasu Dixit (Swarathma) Collective, respectively. The first set will be acoustic, earthy urban folk music by Vasu Dixit Collective followed by Peepal Tree which is an indie rock band that plays infectious grooves, sung in Indian languages. The performers are among the cream of Bangalore's music scene and the evening promises to be high on entertainment.
About the artistes:
Peepal Tree : Four of Bangalore's most seasoned and talented musicians ( from Raghu Dixit Project, Sandeep Chowta productions, Bhoomi and more), come together with their brand new project Peepal Tree. Their music can be described as Indian melodies sitting on funk grooves with subtle overtones of electronica, and sung in Kannada, English & Hindi . This combination of elements makes for a very interesting new sound. Each musician in the band brings a wealth of experience to this new project, having been part of some of the most successful bands from India. Peepal Tree has collectively played more than 1500 concerts globally, in their other projects, and has been a part of the Hindi and Kannada movie industries.
Fresh off the stage at the NH7 weekender and October Fest to widespread acclaim , they are back to play at one of their most favourite venues, The Bflat Bar on the 27th of February, 2015
Vasu Dixit Collective: Vasu Dixit is the lead singer and guitarist with the popular Indian Folk/Fusion band Swarathma. Vasu Dixit Collective is a personal experiment and exploration as a singer, composer and a musician to go from the sound of music to the soul of music. A journey that Vasu wants to share with anyone who'd like to hop on board, be it musicians or audiences.
His music has always been a patchwork of vibrant life experiences, embellished with mirrors help up to the society, stitched with heartstrings of Indian folk culture.
For this performance Vasu collaborates with Karthik Mani on percussions and Ashwin Walawalkar on harmonium.
"Stayed at the amazing Jungle Wood Resort in Coorg, literally in the middle of a Jungle. The house is a 200 year old house managed by a family who has been running this for years. The silence, peace and 'no phone service' makes you feel so connected to the nature. Highly recommended if you just wanna run away! Huge shoutout to @townista. This was my first #TownistaTrip. Brilliantly arranged and such a hassle free experience. Much recommended if you are planning your next trip."
"It really saved me time and effort. Had amazing time with my friends. Much needed break."
