Rather than a club, The Ugly Indian is a community of like-minded people aiming towards a common goal – to clean the Indian streets. It is an anonymous group of highly motivated volunteers. The volunteers choose a small section of an area every week to clean or fix an ugly spot. It is best described as a "faceless, leaderless" volunteer organization.
Entry Process: Volunteers can join either by sending an e-mail to The Ugly Indian or by registering on their Facebook page. By signing up, you will enter their volunteer database for your city/locality. When spotfixes are organized in your city/locality, you will be invited by those organizing the spotfix.
Entry Fees: None. An amount of Rs 200 is contributed towards material costs.
"Stayed at the amazing Jungle Wood Resort in Coorg, literally in the middle of a Jungle. The house is a 200 year old house managed by a family who has been running this for years. The silence, peace and 'no phone service' makes you feel so connected to the nature. Highly recommended if you just wanna run away! Huge shoutout to @townista. This was my first #TownistaTrip. Brilliantly arranged and such a hassle free experience. Much recommended if you are planning your next trip."
"It really saved me time and effort. Had amazing time with my friends. Much needed break."
