Historians and common people alike have a love-hate relationship with Tipu Sultan. One's travel to Bangalore would never be complete without tracing the foot steps of our Sultan, who has left many a mark on the city's future, seen even today.
Tipu’s Summer Palace is the most popular of his heritage, though what remains is only a portion of a bigger complex. As we explore the precincts, we journey two hundred years back through the photographs and relics from late 1700s to early 1800s, the remains of the original palace, and most importantly the exhibition of Mysore rockets that became the foundation for modern Rocket technology!
Just outside is the centuries-old temple of Lord Venkataramana, with whom Tipu himself had a unique relationship. Close by is the Bangalore fort, which Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan defended until their last breath.
