Written and directed by V. Balakrishnan, Amrapali is a solo-performance on the most intriguing figure from the Jatakas- the most beautiful woman, turned state-bride. A courtesan who finds and loses love over battles raging in the region, and who ultimately seeks salvation under the Buddha.

The retelling of the controversial tale of Mata Hari- an exotic dancer and courtesan who was convicted of being a spy during the first World War. She was eventually executed by a firing squad in France under charges of espionage for Germany.
The script inspired the bestseller, Femme Fatale: Love, Lies and the Unknown Life of Mata Hari by Pat Shipman, has been written by V. Balakrishnan.
