Steven Hiroyuki "Steve" Aoki is a Japanese-American electro house musician, record producer, club promoter, and the founder of Dim Mak Records. Aoki has released several Billboard-charting studio albums as well, notably Wonderland. Performing an average of 250 shows a year; he has recently started touring with production via bus tours.
Aoki is one of the world’s foremost EDM artists, with collaborations with big names in the EDM circuit, such as Tiesto, Hardwell, Avicii, Nervo, Laidback Luke, Afrojack and many more. Aoki founded his own label, Dim Mak Records, in 1996. The label has released music by other electro house artists such as MSTRKRFT, The Bloody Beetroots, Felix Cartal and Mustard Pimp, as well as Bloc Party, The Kills, Klaxons, Infected Mushroom, Scanners, Whitey and Mystery Jets.
Known for his energetic live shows, in 2012 Pollstar designated Aoki as the highest grossing dance artist from tours in North America. Aoki’s work has been recognized by the world and he has won many awards and has been nominated for even more. In 2007, he won Best Set of the Season at the Ibiza Awards, followed by Best Mix Album at the Billboard Awards in 2008. He was nominated for the World’s Best EDM Artist at the World Music Awards and was also nominated for a Grammy Award, for Best Dance/Electronica Album.
He is widely known for his acrobatic crowd-surfing stunts, throwing cake at fans, spraying champagne bottles and riding rafts on the dance floor. Aoki attended the University of California, Santa Barbara and graduated with 2 BAs; one in Feminist Studies and the other in Sociology
