About

This Shiva statue was inaugurated on February 26, 1995, the auspicious day of Maha Shivaratri. Sri Shankaracharya of Shringeri (who is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva himself) dedicated the Shiv Mandir to devotees. Since then, the Shiva Temple has become one of the most revered spiritual destinations in the city. People visit the place, bound by the belief that their well-being is ensured by simply touching the statue's feet. Today the temple attracts millions of devotees not only from India but from around the world.
