A storehouse of varied art forms, diverse cultures and unique traditions that can be traced back to prehistoric times. A doting place for those who are fond of folk music, folk tales and scintillating crafts.

  • Copious collection of Karnataka folk music and videotapes of folk dances.
  • Primeval carved temple chariot (Halasuru chariot)
  • Recording studio, with ancient musical instruments based on folk life.
  • The museum is fragmented into three buildings - Lokamahal, Lokamatha Mandira, Chitrakuteera..
  • Aayagara Maala showcasing tools , equipments, utensils used for cooking, farming and animal husbandry.




Rejoice the folklore of Karnataka,along with the ancient symphony, ornaments, vivid crafts and some forgotten childhood memories with puppets, dolls , paper boats, masks etc.

Entry fee: Rs. 15/person (adult), Rs.5/person (children)

Tour programmes : Folk cultural shows are organised on every last Sunday of the month. Also, an annual event Lokotsava Event is organised where many artists and folk musicians participate.
