The 3rd edition of the Bangalore Literature Festival brings the world, yet again to 'Namma Bengaluru'. BLF celebrates the creative spirit of Bangalore and commemorates the literary diversity it offers, bringing it in conversation with the best minds in the world of literature within and outside India.
This year the festival is dedicated to Jnanpith awardee Professor U.R. Ananthamurthy with a tribute planned by several writers.
A contingent of 10 writers from the North-east will not just share their literature, but also the socio-political and cultural issues, that will mirror their little known life.
Well-known names such as Girish Karnad, Arun Shourie, Gulzar,Leila Seth, Shobhaa De, Nayantara Sahgal, Chetan Bhagat, Natwar Singh etc would be coming while nearly 25 writers from across the globe make up the international participation. Music concerts by Bombay Jayashri and Shubha Mudgal further embellish the festive feel.
This year the festival will host for the first time, 'Lit-Mart' where aspiring authors will be allowed to make three-minute pitches of their manuscripts to literary agents, commissioning editors and publishers.
This year's BLF will have a Hyde Park style Speakers' Corner, stand-up comedy, book-nooks, BLF's bookshop (by Oxford Bookstore), author signing sessions, about six book launches and an interactive literary installation at the venue. Music lovers will be treated to concerts by carnatic vocalist Bombay Jayashri and Hindustani vicalist Shubha Mudgal. And since books are incomplete without good food, there will be enough food stalls serving street food, local and international cuisine.
There's something for everyone at the BLF this year! See you on 26th September.
Note: Schedule will be announced in a few days.
