What we like

The newly developed Archdiocesan Heritage Museum is an example of how to create a future for the past. It specially focuses on the development and progress of christianity from times immemorial in the nation.

  • Rich and ancient church traditions
  • Timeline painted on the walls
  • Manuscripts, religious objects and paintings

Set up in 2006 by the then Archbishop, Cardinal Ivan Dias, the Archdiocesan Heritage Museum was inaugurated by His Eminence Cardinal Oswald Gracias on September 25, 2011. This newly built museum which preserves and protects the belongings of the church has a collection of artefacts ranging from manuscripts, religious objects, paintings, vestments, sculptures and liturgical books. One of the most striking features of the museum is the timeline painted on the wall of the museum showing the stages of Christianity in the region from since 6 AD.
